Men Golfers Open Spring Slate at Capital Spring Invite

TIFFIN, Ohio—The Heidelberg University men’s golf team will open its spring schedule Friday and Saturday, March 30-31 at the Capital University Spring Invitational. The Student Princes will play 18 holes at the par-72 and 7,120-yard Westchester Golf Club in Canal Winchester on Friday and another round at the par-72 and 7,077-yard Foxfire Golf Club in Lockbourne on Saturday.

Seniors Corey Pierson (Troy) and Zak Markley (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) led the Berg through six outings during the fall portion of the 2011-12 schedule. Pierson averaged a team-best 78.00 strokes per round, while Markley averaged 78.80.

Seniors Brian Cline (Mentor), Kyle Youngblood (Berea) and Logan Weiland (Valley City/Buckeye) and sophomore Troy Keller (Tiffin/Calvert) are also expected to see significant action this spring.

Following this weekend’s tournament, the Berg will play in the Ted Barlcay Invitational at Granville Golf Course.
