Heidelberg Men's Golf Team Places Ninth at Jon P. Spiess Memorial

WAUSEON, Ohio—The Heidelberg University men’s golf team came in ninth place at the Jon P. Spiess Memorial hosted by Defiance College today at Ironwood Golf Course in Wauseon, Ohio. The Student Princes carded 332 strokes on the par-72 and 6,965-yard course.

Senior Zak Markley (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) led the team with 79 strokes to tie for 11th place and was closely followed in a tie for 18th by senior Corey Pierson (Troy) with an 80. Senior Brian Cline (Mentor) tallied 86 strokes, good for a tie for 45th. Rounding out the starting five was local sophomore Troy Keller (Tiffin/Calvert) in a tie for 47th with an 87 and sophomore Logan Weiland (Valley City/Buckeye) in 51st with 90 strokes.

Heidelberg next competes Friday, Sept. 16 at the Ohio Athletic Conference Invitational at Colonial Hills in Ada, Ohio. Tee time is set for 10 a.m.
