Austintown, Ohio – April 5, 2010 – Junior Zack Koinis (Vermilion, Ohio / Vermilion) of the Heidelberg University men’s golf team has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for the Week of April 5, 2010. The weekly honor is the fourth of Koinis’ career and the first this season.
Over the weekend Koinis and the Berg opened its spring schedule hosting the Heidelberg University Spring Collegiate Golf Classic at the Mohawk Golf and Country Club in Tiffin, Ohio.
At the classic, Koinis competed as an individual and took eighth place. He shot a 158, 14 over par, just missing the top-five by four strokes. In round one he shot a 79 and returned to post the same mark on day two.
Heading into the spring season Koinis boasted a 77 average to lead the Berg. Heidelberg is next in action at the Purple and White Invitational hosted by Capital University April 9-10. Koinis is the two-time defending medalist.
