OAC Medalist Koinis and 'Berg Shoot for Title

Tiffin, Ohio – April 29, 2010 – The Heidelberg University men’s golf team, under the guidance of first-year head coach Daniel Hartsel, is set to take part in the 2010 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship hosted by Mount Union College Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1 at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance, Ohio.

It is the second time that Tannenhauf's par 72, 6,694 layout hosted OAC Championship and first time since 1996. Admission to the event and parking are free.

Two-time defending OAC medalist senior Zack Koinis (Vermilion, Ohio / Vermilion) will look to lead the Berg to its second championship in the history of the program. Heidelberg previously won the team title in 1991.

In 2008 Koinis became the first ’Berg golfer to claim medalist honors and doubled up his accomplishment a year later. For the year Koinis is shooting a 77.9.

Other top performers on the year for the Berg have been juniors David Lilly (Greencastle, Ind. / Greencastle) and Zak Markley (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville), along with senior Kevin Lenhart (Arlington, Ohio / Arlington). Lilly was consistent in the fall and it has carried over to the Spring. He is averaging a 77.6 through 20 rounds.

Lenhart is third on the team with a 79.2 stroke outing after playing in nine tournaments for 20 rounds of golf. Following Lenhart is Markley with a stroke average of 80.6.
