Granville, Ohio – September 6, 2009 – The 2009 fall season for the Heidelberg University men’s golf team and head coach Daniel Hartsel began at the Denison Fall Classic Sept. 5-6. Heidelberg finished sixth in the field of nine teams. Denison University hosted the event at the Granville Golf Club in Granville, Ohio.
Taking home the team championship was the host Tigers after shooting a 587 (291, 296). Heidelberg had a two-day total of 633 (318, 315).
Senior Kevin Lenhart (Arlington, Ohio / Arlington) and junior David Lilly (Greencastle, Ind. / Greencastle) led the Berg after tying for 16th place. Lenhart and Lilly shot a 78 on day one and returned with a 79 on day two.
Standing in a tie for 27th was senior Zack Koinis (Vermilion, Ohio / Vermilion) and junior Zak Markley (Willimasville, N.Y. / Williamsville South). Koinis opened up play with an 84, but bounced back and fired a 76 to finish at 160. Markley shot a 79 and 81.
Rounding out the scoring for the Berg was sophomore Sam Arnold (Springfield, Ohio / Kenton Ridge). Arnold stood tied for 38th after shooting a 165 (83, 82).
