Delaware, Ohio – September 15, 2009 – Heidelberg University men’s golf team finished fifth at the Ohio Wesleyan University Fall Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday at Oakhaven Golf Club. Leading the pack for the Berg was David Lilly (Greencastle, Ind. / Greencastle) 149 (76, 73) and Zach Koinis (Vermilion, Ohio / Vermilion) 154 (79, 75).
Heidelberg shot a 619 (310, 309) over the course of two rounds to finish in fifth place behind Ohio Wesleyan 595 (296, 299), Transylvania University 599 (301, 298), John Carroll University 608 (306, 302), and Baldwin-Wallace College 614 (309, 305).
In the final standings, Heidelberg topped fellow Ohio Athletic Conference opponents Muskingum University 632 (319, 313), Ohio Northern University 657 (323, 334), Capital University 666 (333, 333), and Wilmington College 676 (347, 329).
Lilly’s 149 earned him a top-10 finish with a 6th place tie, while Koinis’s 154 tied him for 17th place. Also contributing was Kevin Lenhart (Arlington, Ohio / Arlington) 157 (76, 81) with a 27th finish, Zak Markley (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville South) 159 (79, 80) tied for 33th, and Sam Arnold (Springfield, Ohio / Kenton Ridge) 165 (81, 84) who placed a tie for 47th.
Heidelberg’s men’s golf team will next compete in the OAC Fall Tournament on September 20-21 at Fox Meadows Golf and Country Club.
