Wauseon, Ohio – September 14, 2010 – The Heidelberg University men’s golf team competed in the 16-team, John P. Speiss Memorial at the Ironwood Golf Course hosted by Defiance College.
The Berg finished in a tie for second alongside the University of Northwestern Ohio.
Finishing in first place was Huntington University shooting a 286, which set a new course record. Heidelberg, as well as University of Northwestern Ohio, finished with a score of 301.
Leading the way for the Berg was senior David Lilly (Greencastle, Ind. / Greencastle) who finished the day with a 71 after shooting a 36 from the front and a 35 from the back. Lilly represented Heidelberg by being named to the All Tourney list for his performance.
Zak Markley (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville South) was just behind Lilly posting a score of 74 (34,40) followed by Brian Cline (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) with a score of 77 (39,38).
Rounding out the top finishes were Sam Arnold (Springfield, Ohio / Kenton Ridge) shooting a 79 (39,40) and Corey Pierson (Troy, Ohio / Troy) with an 83 (40,43).
Also competing for the Berg were Trent Kuelling (Mansfield, Ohio / Madison) (79), Kyle Youngblood (Berea, Ohio / Berea) (79), Danny Wisard (Orrville, Ohio / Orrville) (80), Greg Day (Wayne, Ohio / Lakota) (85) and Tyler Willaman (Amanda, Ohio / Amanda-Clearcreek) (88),
Next up for the Berg is the OAC Fall Tournament, September 18-19 in Chesterland, Ohio.
