Koinis Picks Up All-Region Honor

Zack Koinis (Vermilion, Ohio / Vermilion), a member of the Heidelberg College men’s golf team, has earned a spot on the Golf Coaches Association of America / PING All-Great Lakes Region Team. The All-Region teams were named by the GCAA following the NCAA Championships.

A first-year member of the program, Koinis won the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on April 25, the first time ever a Heidelberg golfer has medaled at the event. He also earned All-OAC status along with teammate David Lilly (Greencastle, Ind. / Greencastle), only the 13th and 14th individuals to do so from the Berg. Koinis is also the first Student Prince to receive an all-region honor from the GCAA. Previously, Bill Bonar earned GCAA Second Team All-America in 1976 and Scott Cripps was a GCAA All-American Scholar in 1999.

As a whole, the team placed fifth at the OAC Championships and grabbed its first top-five finish since the program placed third in 2001.
