Koinis Wins Second-Straight Capital Invite

Junior Zack Koinis (Vermilion, Ohio / Vermilion) of the Heidelberg University men’s golf team opened the 2009 Spring season medaling at the Purple and White Invitational hosted by Capital University at the Foxfire Golf Club April 3-4.
 
It is the second-straight year that Koinis has earned top honors at the event. Koinis shot a two-day total of 153, to medal by two strokes. On day one, he shot a 76 and returned in the final day and shot a 77.
 
As a team, Heidelberg finished tied four fourth place with a 662 (335, 327). Madonna University won the team championship after shooting a 635 followed by Ohio Northern University (645) and Mt. Vernon Nazarene (651). Heidelberg shared the fourth spot with Shawnee State University.
 
Tying for 20th was Craig Meyer (Norwalk, Ohio / St. Paul) with a 168 (85, 83), while Kevin Lenhart (Arlington, Ohio / Arlington) put three in the top-25 after shooting a 169 (86, 83) to stand tied for 23rd.
 
Rounding out the scoring for Heidelberg was David Lilly (Greencastle, Ind. / Greencastle) and Cory Peirson (Troy, Ohio / Troy). Lilly had a two-day total of 172 (88, 84), which tied for 28th, and Peirson finished at 196 (103, 93) and was 46th.
 
Heidelberg continues its Spring schedule at the Defiance Invite April 10-11.
