2009 Heidelberg Men's Soccer Newcomers

The following have announced that they will continue their athletic and academic careers at Heidelberg University. Heidelberg is a liberal arts institution with approximately 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students located in Tiffin, Ohio.
 
They will join the men's soccer team and veteran head coach Brian Haley beginning in the fall of 2009. Heidelberg is a member of the 10-team Ohio Athletic Conference and has a storied tradition. Haley has guided the program to a winning season in 13 out of the last 15 years. A season ago, the Berg made its 11th appearance, second straight, in the OAC Tournament.
 

Jentzen Mehl (Bloomfiled Hills, Mich. / Seaholm)

A native of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Mehl attended Seaholm High School and played with the Brimingham Blazers Club team. In 2008, he earned all-district and all-region honors, as well garnered a spot on the All-State Team Three. Outside of soccer, Mehl is active with the bowling and ping pong clubs, as well the Youth Architectural Engineering Program that is associated with Lawrence Technological University.
 

Ryan Smith (Roanoke, Texas / Keller)

A native of Roanoke, Texas, Smith attends Keller High School where he was a two-year varsity letter winner on the soccer field. He helped lead Keller to the district, bi-district and area championships. Smith also is also a member of Keller’s cross country and track teams. He is active with the Dallas Fort Worth Tornadoes Soccer Club. Academically, Smith is active in the National Honor Society and Student Council.
 

Ryan Vowinkle (Southlake, Texas / Carroll Senior)

A native of Southlake, Texas, Vowinkle was a four-year varsity starter at Carroll Senior High School. He helped lead the Dragons to two district championships. Vowinkle was a two-time all-district selection, earning a nod on the first team and honorable mention lists. In his senior campaign, he served as a team captain. He is active wih the Dallas Fort Worth Tornadoes Soccer Club. In the classroom, Vowinkle was active in National Honor Society and the distinguished scholar program. He was named to the academic all-district team on two occasions.
