The Heidelberg University men’s soccer team, with the guidance of head coach Brian Haley, opened their 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference schedule against Marietta on Saturday September 29. Despite taking 15 shots as a unit, the Berg could not find the back of the net and fell to Marietta, 3-0.
Sophomore Nico Samaneigo (Huron) led the Berg offensively with four shots against the Pioneers.
Senior Ryan Smith (Roanoke, TX/Keller), along with freshman Christopher Kozcak (Springboro) tallied three shots each for the Student Princes.
Miguelangel Grande (Germantown, MD/Northwest) and Cole Tonti (Columbus/St. Francis de Sales) both recorded two shots each.
The Heidelberg men even their record at 5-5.
‘Berg men’s soccer will take the pitch again of Tuesday, October 2, when they battle Wilmington. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm against the Quakers, in Tiffin.
