Haley Releases 2009 Schedule

Tiffin, Ohio - June 15, 2009 - Heidelberg University head men’s soccer coach Brian Haley has announced the release of its 2009 schedule. The Berg is slated to play 18 regular season contests, including nine Ohio Athletic Conference games. Of its 18 outings, 11 are scheduled to be played at Mayer Field, on the campus of Heidelberg.

The year opens with an away contest at Oberlin College Sept. 1. Following its season-opening road game, Heidelberg will stay in Tiffin for nine of its next 11 games. Its home schedule begins with four-consecutive at home starting with Albion College Sept. 4. Following Albion is Pennsylvania institutions Geneva College (Sept. 9) and Allegheny College (Sept. 12), along with North Coast Athletic Conference member Bluffton University (Sept. 12).

A trip to Hiram, Ohio gives the Berg a break from its home slate when it takes on Hiram College Sept. 19. Hiram joins Bluffton in the NCAC.

Heidelberg resumes its streak of home games when its takes on its third school from the state of Pennsylvania in Grove City College Sept. 23. Home games with Case Western Reserve University (Sept. 26) and Siena Heights University (Sept. 30) conclude the month of September.

Ohio Athletic Conference action, and the month of October, starts with a home game with Marietta College Oct. 3. Heidelberg will look to avenge a 2008 OAC Quarterfinal loss to the Pioneers. A road trip to Baldwin-Wallace College (Oct. 6) takes place prior to hosting Wilmington College (Oct. 10) to close out its stretch of nine of 11 games in Tiffin.

The later part if its slate contains four road games including trips to 2008 OAC regular season runner-up John Carroll University (Oct. 14), Otterbein College (Oct. 17), Muskingum College (Oct. 24) and last year’s regular season champion Capital University (Oct. 28). Sandwiched in the middle of its last four road contests is a home game with Ohio Northern University (Oct. 20).

Heidelberg closes out its 2008 regular season slate with a home game with Mount Union College Oct. 31.
