Tiffin, Ohio – October 10, 2009 – The Heidelberg University men’s soccer team shutout Wilmington College with the score of 2-0. The Berg improves to 7-4-1, 2-1 in the OAC, while the Quakers drops to 3-9, 0-3 in the OAC.
Heidelberg’s Michael Juart (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Darby) delivered for the Berg in the 38th minute as he placed a ball from15 yards out past Wilmington’s goal keeper into the back of the net making the score 1-0, for the eventual game winning goal. The scored marked Juart’s second goal and game winning goal of the season.
In the 56th minute the Berg added insurance when Gavin McCarthy (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Darby) connected with Grant Beck (Roanoke, Texas / Keller) in the box, which led to a shot from Beck directed to the far post, making the score 2-0.
Heidelberg’s Cory Buhrman (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) and Alex Sanchez (Reno, Nevada / Earl Rooster) led the team with each four shots and four shots on goal.
Heidelberg seeks their eighth win of season as they travel to John Carroll University, Wednesday October 14, at 4:00 p.m.
