Tiffin, Ohio – October 20, 2009 – The Heidelberg University men’s soccer team was defeated by Ohio Northern University with the score of 1-0. The Berg goes to 8-5-2 overall, 3-2-1 in the OAC, while the Polar Bears improve to 11-3-2, 5-0-1 in the OAC.
Ohio Northern’s Abrim Mueller scored the lone goal of the game in the 49th minute, when he snuck a ball to the near post past Heidelberg’s goal keeper Ryan Smith (Roanoke, Texas / Keller).
In a close match throughout, Ohio Northern held a slight 13-12 shot advantage over Heidelberg.
Leading for the Berg was Grant Beck (Roanoke, Texas / Keller) with four shots and two shots on goal. Also contributing was Cory Buhrman (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) who had three shots with one shot on goal. Michael Juart (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Darby) had two shots with one shot on goal.
Heidelberg’s goal keeper Ryan Smith (Roanoke, Texas / Keller) accumulated eight saves on the night.
Heidelberg returns to action when they travel to Muskingum College, Saturday October 24, at 2:00 p.m.
