Ada, Ohio – November 5, 2009 – In the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals, the Heidelberg University men’s soccer team was defeated by Ohio Northern University with the score of 1-0.
The game’s only goal came early in the 2nd minute when Ohio Northern’s Abrim Mueller placed a ball from outside of the box, which then a Heidelberg defender headed the ball into the net in attempt to clear it.
Overall Heidelberg outshot Ohio Northern 20-9 including blanking the Polar Bears with shot advantage of 11-0 in the second half. This marks the third straight game that Heidelberg has outshot its opponents by double digits.
Leading for the ‘Berg was Grant Beck (Roanoke, Texas / Keller) who had three shots with all of them on goal. Cory Buhrman (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) had three shots with two shots on goal. Jon Kijowski (Norwalk, Ohio / Norwalk) and Jakob Reinbolt (Whitehouse, Ohio / Anthony Wayne) recorded four and three shots each, respectively.
The win advances the Polar Bears to the OAC Tournament Finals.
Heidelberg finishes its season 10-8-2 overall, while earning a spot in the OAC Tournament for the 12th time which is only second behind John Carroll University.
