Tiffin, Ohio – January, 12 2011 – Four members of the Heidelberg University men’s soccer team have been voted on the 2010 Onslow Classic Soccer Association NCAA Division III Men's All-Ohio Team. Seniors Greg Acuna (Findlay, Ohio / Findlay) and Cory Buhrman (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) earned a spot on the second team, while junior Mike Harling (Manchester, England / Holy Cross) and senior Jon Kijowski (Norwalk, Ohio / Norwalk) landed on the third team.
This marks Acuna’s fourth postseason accolade of the year and his second All-Ohio honors which is the first in program’s history. He also earned 2010 First Team All-Reigion, All-OAC, and Academic All-OAC. The mainstay on Heidelberg’s defense, Acuna contributed to the Berg’s OAC-best 10 shutouts.
Joining Acuna in the program’s only Second Team All-Ohio recipients is Buhrman. Buhrman led the team and the conference with five game winners on the season. Buhrman also tabbed 2010 First Team All-OAC and Third Team All-Region honors.
Joining Buhrman with his first All-Ohio honor is Harling. Presenting a force on the front line, Harling was third on the team with 15 points, including six goals and three assists. This marks his second postseason reward as he earned a spot on the 2010 First Team All-OAC.
Kijowski is earning his second postseason honor of his career, as he locked up 2010 Academic All-OAC honors. Starting in all 20 games for Heidelberg, Kijowski helped guide to the Berg to the top defense in the OAC as it led the conference in goals against averaged (.72).
Heidelberg, under the guidance of 22nd-year head coach Brian Haley, won to its first OAC regular season title in 2010. The Berg finished the season 14-4-2 overall and 7-0-2 against league foes. Its 14 victories ranks second all-time in Heidelberg’s history, only behind its 1999 season where it won 17. The 2010 season marked the only season ever that the Berg went undefeated in the OAC. It’s seven conference victories ties with the 2002 season for most in the history of the program.
