Tiffin, Ohio – June 9, 2010 – Head coach Brian Haley has announced the release of the 2010 schedule for the Heidelberg University men’s soccer team. Heidelberg will play an 18-game regular season that includes seven home contests that will be played at one of two newly renovated complexes, Hidden Valley or Mayer Field.
The year officially begins Sept. 1 when Heidelberg entertains St. Vincent College at Hidden Valley. The contest with St. Vincent will mark the first game played on the newly designed grass playing field
Following its opener, the Berg hits the road for three consecutive outings beginning north in Michigan at Albion College (Sept. 4). Its three game road swing concludes in Pennsylvania at Grove City College (Sept. 8) and at Alleghany College (Sept. 11).
Heidelberg returns home to host Oberlin Sept. 15 at Hidden Valley.
After another trip to Pennsylvania for a game with Geneva College (Sept. 18), Heidelberg will host Hiram College Sept. 21 at Mayer Field.
Two road games precede Heidelberg opening up Ohio Athletic Conference play hosting Capital University Oct. 2 at Hidden Valley.
Heidelberg faces three straight OAC games on the road against Otterbein College (Oct. 6), Muskingum University (Oct. 9) and Baldwin-Wallace College (Oct. 13) before closing out the year playing three of its last five contests in Tiffin.
The Berg will entertain Mount Union College (Oct. 16) at Hidden Valley before traveling to John Carroll University (Oct. 19) and Marietta College (Oct. 23). The regular season closes with Ohio Northern University visiting Mayer Field Oct. 27 and Wilmington College coming to town Oct. 31.
The 2010 season will mark Haley’s 22nd year at the Berg. Last year, Heidelberg concluded the season at 10-8-2 overall and 4-4-1 in the OAC. Heidelberg made its 12th appearance, third straight, in the OAC Tournament.
