Heidelberg Wins OAC Opener 1-0
The Heidelberg College men’s soccer team dominated the field and out shot Muskingum College 20-11 for the day, helping give the Berg the win by a score of 1-0. The Student Princes recorded their lone goal of the day in the eighth minute of play. Freshman Cory Buhrman (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) passed to fellow freshman Mike Harling (Rochdale, England / Holy Cross) who then had a hard shot straight into the center of the net for the win, it was his first goal on the year.
“We missed some opportunities in the first half to really put the game away,” commented head coach Brian Haley, “But they really came back in the second half and shut Muskingum down.”
Sophomore goalkeeper Jared Kealy (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) had a great day at the net for the Berg. He recorded eight saves and racked up his third shutout of the year.
The win raises Heidelberg’s record to 5-5. The men return to action Tuesday Oct. 2 against Ohio Northern at home. Play begins at 4:00p.m.
