Buhrman Shoots Heidelberg a Win
It was off an assist from Raul Mendez (Mexico City, Mexico / Green Hills) that Cory Buhrman (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) was able to kick the ball into the goal from 25 yards out in the 14th minute of play, guaranteeing the Heidelberg College men’s soccer team the win over Otterbein College 1-0.
The team, coached by Brian Haley, rises to 9-8 on the year and 5-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Student Princes have been holding steady at fourth place in the OAC and if they can secure a victory Saturday, Oct. 27 against Mount Union College, the men will have a very good chance of not only going to the OAC Tournament, but hosting the game at home on Mayer Field as well.
Against Otterbein, Buhrman also led the team with five shots during the game, two of which were on goal. Jared Kealy (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) protected the net for the entire contest and snatched up five saves for Heidelberg.
Heidelberg faces off against Mount Union on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Alliance, Ohio.
