Harling Scores Player of the Week Honor
Sophomore midfielder and forward Mike Harling (Rochdale, England / Holy Cross) of the Heidelberg College men’s soccer team has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of October 13. It is the first such honor received by Harling.
During the Berg’s 1-0 victory over no. 7 Baldwin-Wallace at home on Mayer Field last Wednesday, Harling headed a shot straight into the back of the net off a corner kick by teammate Brad Howell (Lexington, Ohio / Lexington) just over five minutes into play. It would be all the Berg would need for the upset. Later in the week on Saturday, Harling booted another goal in at the 8:29 mark against Wilmington College and provided the assist for Cory Buhrman’s (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) game-winning shot late in the second half to place Heidelberg at 2-0 for the week.
A year ago, Harling led the Student Princes with five goals, three game-winning, and 11 points during his freshman campaign. He was named First Team All-OAC for his efforts.
