I write to you from Chester in England close to the Welsh border - it’s a Roman and Medieval town - great Cathedral that dates from before the Norman times - that is 1066 for all you non-historians. I think the Heidelberg students enjoy the opportunity to see it as much as they do the local internet cafe. Most of them are thinking they are about to die over here as I drive on the left hand side - makes for interesting journeys. On Thursday we will travel to Warwick castle - one of the best examples of a medieval castle in England.

On the football front: The team is enjoying the trip so far: we have a planned tour around Manchester United FC for Friday and we are getting tickets for the Liverpool vs. Lazio game on Friday. We have already seen Bolton WFC from the English Premier League play on Saturday when we arrived. So, plenty of good soccer is at hand.

The team lost its first game last night to Wibsey Football club - the game was good as the players learned a lot from playing a more experienced and mature club; all good preparation for their return to the US where the nature of the game is slower and less physical. Our next game is tomorrow against another experienced and mature team.
