After the Heidelberg University men’s tennis team shutout the Beavers of Bluffton University on Thursday, April 4, the Student Princes (4-7, 1-1 OAC) delivered another shutout to Muskingum on Saturday.
Cliff Goetz (Oak Harbor) battled Muskingum’s number one, Dale Du Fluiter to a 6-0; 6-1 victory. Goetz then teamed up with Zach Schwenning (Barberton) in doubles action and shutout the opposition, 8-0. Schwenning took down his single opponent, 6-0; 6-1.
Heidelberg’s number three, Dorian Kempf (Galion), shutout his Muskingum counterpart, 6-0; 6-0 in singles action. Junior Matt McDivitt (Cortland/Lakeview) occupied the four position and collected another 6-0; 6-0 victory for the Berg.
The Kempf and McDivitt teamed up for doubles competition and swung their way to an 8-0 victory.
Heidelberg completed their sweep of singles competition with a 6-2; 6-3 victory from Dan Driscoll (University Heights/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) and a 6-1; 6-1 win from Brandon Lust (Bucyrus).
The two teamed up for doubles competition and dropped their counterparts in straight sets, 8-0.
The Heidelberg men will travel to Wilmington College on April 8, to continue Ohio Athletic Conference competition. The match between the Berg and the Quakers is slated for 3:30 p.m.
