North Manchester, Ind. – January 16, 2010 – Senior Ed Bizorik (Bellevue, Ohio / Bellevue) and sophomore Jerry Knapp (Olmsted Falls, Ohio / Olmsted Falls) took home the title of the 184 and 285 pound weight classes to lead the way for the Heidelberg University wrestling team at the Spartan Mat Classic hosted by Manchester College.
Bizorik and Knapp were two of 19 placers for the nationally-ranked ’Berg. As a team, Heidelberg finished in third place with 125.0 points. Campbellsville University took home the team title with 190.0 points followed by North Central College (137.5).
Taking home a runner-up finish was freshman Brandon Burkett (Westerville, Ohio / North) at 141 pounds, while sophomore Jake Weisman (Bexley, Ohio / Bexley) (125), junior Tony Lawler (West Jefferson, Ohio /West Jefferson) (133) and freshman Andrew Johnson (Weston, Ohio / Ostego) (149) finished third.
Taking home a fourth place finish was sophomore Cory Martinson (Brunswick, Ohio / St. Edwards) at 157 pounds, as well as freshmen Andrew Lovins (Clinton Township, Mich. / Lake Shore) and William Rigsby (Dublin, Ohio / St. Charles) at 184 and 197 pounds, respectively.
Standing in fifth was freshman Patrick Rigsby (Dublin, Ohio / St. Charles) (174), sophomore Dayne Williams (Tiffin, Ohio / Columbian) (184) and sophomore Cassady Willford (Rutland, Ohio / Meigs) (285).
Freshmen Delian Schneider (Tiffin, Ohio / Columbian) (125) and Bryan Hoffman (Columbus, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne) (149) along with sophomore Sean Pincura (Amherst, Ohio / Midview) (157) finished in sixth place, while Neal Renna (Lockport, Ill. / Lockport) was seventh at 197 pounds.
Rounding out the placers for the Berg in eighth was freshman Ben Kieffer (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) (141), sophomore Jacob Johnson (Dearborn Heights, Mich. / Crestwood) (157) and Steven Carozza (Orrville, Ohio / Orrville) (285).
