Wilmington, Ohio – April 10, 2010 – The Heidelberg University men’s tennis team picked up another Ohio Athletic Conference victory on the year today when it traveled to Wilmington, Ohio. The Berg posted a 7-2 win over host Wilmington College to mark its second straight OAC win.
For the year, Heidelberg stands at 4-7 overall and 2-1 in the OAC, while the Quakes fall to 0-6 overall and 0-3 versus league foes.
Wilmington scored a win at first doubles, but the Berg responded taking second and third doubles. Teaming up for an 8-3 win in the second doubles slot was Patrick Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison) and Miles Yetter (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome). Posting an 8-2 win at third doubles was Bradley Cerveny (North Royalton, Ohio / North Royalton) and Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Central). Both duos won their second straight OAC matches to improve to 2-1 in league play.
Remaining above .500 in conference matches in singles play was Cliff Goetz (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor), Cerveny, Booth, Early and Yetter. All five stand at 2-1 in the OAC followings wins at Wilmington.
Goetz won 6-1, 6-1 at second singles followed by a straight-set (6-1, 6-3) win by Cerveny at third singles. Blanking his opponent in the fourth spot was Booth, while Earl won 6-0, 6-3 at fifth singles. Rounding out the victors was Yetter at sixth singles. Yetter won in straight-sets (6-0, 6-1).
