Tiffin, Ohio – April 29, 2010 – The Heidelberg University men’s tennis team hosted an Ohio Athletic Conference match against Otterbein College today. Heidelberg won 5-4 as it finished with three-straight single match victories.
The Berg improves their record to 6-10 overall and 4-4 in the OAC, while the Cardinals fall to 3-19 and 3-7 against league foes.
The Berg won four of the six singles matches and won one of the doubles matches.
In doubles Patrick Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison) and Miles Yetter (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) won 8-6 in the three-spot.
Bobby Lochotzki (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor) got things started for the Berg with a 6-4, 6-0 defeat in the first singles slot. Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Central) (6-3, 6-4) and Earl each won in two sets. Earl’s victory tied it 4-4 against Otterbein.
Yetter's three-setter was the deciding match for the Berg. Down 6-4 in the first set, Yetter responded finishing the last two sets with wins of 6-0 and 6-4. Yetter has a team-best 9-6 overall record.
Heidelberg finishes regular season play as it travels on Saturday, May 1, to face Capital University at 1:00 p.m.
