Defiance, Ohio – April 10, 2011 – The Heidelberg University men’s tennis team took a break from Ohio Athletic Conference action on Sunday to take on Goshen College. The match was played at Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio.
Heidelberg held a 2-1 advantage after doubles play, but Goshen responded with victories in four of six singles matches to post a 5-4 victory. The setback drops the Berg to 7-6 on the year.
Scoring points early for the Berg was the duo of Patrick Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison) and Zachary Schwenning (Barberton, Ohio / Barbertonb. Early and Schwenning posted an 8-6 win at second doubles. Making it two wins in doubles play for the Berg was Dorion Kempf (Galion, Ohio / Galion) and Matthew McDivitt (Cortland, Ohio / Lakeview) with an 8-3 win in the third spot.
Goshen claimed victories in the first four single matches, but Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Central) turned the tide for the Berg. Booth improved to 3-0 on the week, and increasing his winning streak to seven, with a win in straight sets at fifth singles (6-1, 6-0).
Closing out the scoring for Heidelberg and winning his 10th straight match was Miles Yetter (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) in the sixth spot. Yetter won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. Of his 10 victories in row, seven have been in straight sets.
