May 3, 2011 — Westerville, Ohio — The six-seeded Heidelberg University men’s tennis team dropped to the third-seeded Otterbein University today in the Quarterfinals of the 2011 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament at the Clements Recreation Center, 5-0.
The Berg finishes the season at 9-11 overall (4-5 in the OAC), while the Cardinals improve to 12-10 and will advance to the Semifinals to face the number two-seeded John Carroll University on Friday.
The duos of Bobby Lochotzki (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor) and Cliff Goetz (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor) and Patrick Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison) and Zachary Schwenning (Barberton, Ohio / Barberton) fought hard in the first and second doubles spots, respectively, but fell short losing 8-5.
Also making the OAC Tournament was the Heidelberg women’s tennis team. They are the no. 7 seed and will travel to the no. 2 seed Baldwin-Wallace College tomorrow (May 4) at 3:30 p.m. Earlier this season, the Berg suffered an 8-1 setback to the Yellow Jackets in Berea (April 20).
