Student Princes End on a Win; Norris Picks Up 80th

The Heidelberg College men’s tennis team finished the year by picking up its seventh win of the season in a non-conference match against Defiance College. The Berg won 6-3 and end the season with an overall record of 7-10. Defiance stands at 8-12.

The men started the day with the Student Princes sweeping the Yellow Jackets in doubles competition. Moody Al-Turk (Sandusky, Ohio / Perkins) and Jacob Craig (Toledo, Ohio / Sylvania) won in the first position 9-8, 7-3, while Max Norris (Toledo, Ohio / Springfield) and Ryan Michel (Milan, Ohio / Edison) took second doubles with a score of 8-2. Brad Cerveny (North Royalton, Ohio / North Royalton) and Miles Yetter (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) won third doubles 8-3.

In singles competition, Norris won first singles 6-2, 6-1. It was the 80th career win for Norris and places him second on the all-time career win list for the program, just behind Aaron Coch ’98 who won 87. He was followed on the court by Al-Turk who lost second singles 7-5, 4-6, and 7-10. Craig defeated his opponent at third singles 6-2, 6-2 to seal the win for Heidelberg. Meanwhile, Cerveny fell at fourth singles 6-2, 6-0 and Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville Central) lost in the fifth position 6-0, 6-1. Yetter capped off the day in the sixth spot, winning 6-2, 6-1.
