'Berg Earns Win Over Pioneers
The Heidelberg University men’s tennis team won its second straight road match after topping Marietta College 7-2. The Berg advances their record to 2-1 for the season as the Pioneers move to 0-2.
In singles competition the Berg took the win in five spots. In first singles Moody Al-Turk (Sandusky, Ohio / Perkins) defeated Bruce Kitchens 6-1, 6-1. Bradley Cerveny (North Royalton, Ohio / North Royalton) also won in the second position 7-5, 6-2 against Mike Carpenter. Finishing off the victories on the day were Patrick-Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison) 6-0, 6-1, Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville Central) 6-1, 6-0, and Miles Yetter (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) 6-0, 6-1.
Both first and second doubles teams came off with a win and a turn around from the previous match. At first doubles Al-Turk and Cerveny defeated Kitchens and Carpenter, 8-6. Filling in at second doubles were Earl and Yetter, 8-3, against Andrew Bolton and Ryan Whitnable.
The Berg will host Baldwin-Wallace College in their first home match Tuesday, April 1 at 3:30 p.m.
