Booth Tabbed OAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Sophomore Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville Central) of the Heidelberg University men’s tennis team has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 23, 2009. It is the first league award handed out for the 2009 season and it is the first of Booth’s career.
Last week, Booth helped guide Heidelberg to a 2-0 record, including an OAC victory at Marietta College to open up league action on a high note.
On Thursday, Heidelberg traveled to Bluffton University and topped the host Beavers 7-2. Booth won at fourth singles in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, topping John Mark Stratford. In doubles action, Booth teamed up with Lee Moomaw (Bloomville, Ohio / Columbian) and posted an 8-3 win at third doubles.
At Marietta on Saturday, Heidelberg came out on top by a 7-2 margin. At fourth singles, Booth topped Andrew Bolton 6-1, 6-0. Booth and Moomaw posted an 8-3 decision at third doubles for the second-straight outing.
Overall Heidelberg stands at 2-1 on the year and are under the guidance of 20th-year head coach Jerry McDonald. The Berg opens up its 2009 home slate Wednesday, April 1, versus Baldwin-Wallace College. Match is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
