'Berg Victorious at Wilmington

The Heidelberg University men’s tennis team traveled to Wilmington College today for an Ohio Athletic Conference match. The Berg closed out its singles play strong to help seal a 5-4 road win. The victory improves the Berg to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in league action, while the Quakers falls to 3-7, 0-3 OAC.
 
Wilmington opened up play with an 8-3 win at first doubles, but the Berg responded with victories at both second and third doubles. The duo of Patrick-Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison) and Miles Yetter (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) won 8-6 at second doubles to even the match at 1-1. At third doubles, Lee Moomaw (Bloomville, Ohio / Columbian) and Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville) won 8-2 to give Heidelberg a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.
 
The host Quakers posted victories in the first three single matches, but Heidelberg closed out the day winning the final three singles match ups for the 5-4 win. Winning in straight sets was Yetter (6-0, 6-1) and Moomaw (6-2, 6-1) at fifth and sixth singles, respectively, while Booth won 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 in the fourth singles spot.
 
Heidelberg returns to action against John Carroll University April 7. The match is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
