Bishops Blank the Berg

The Heidelberg men’s tennis team opened its fall season with a loss as it fell 9-0 to Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.


Jacob Craig (Toledo, Ohio / Sylvania) took his first singles match to three sets, but fell 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 to Brandon Luttinger from OWU. The other close match of the day came at first doubles, where Craig and Moody Al-Turk (Sandusky, Ohio / Perkins) lost 8-6 to Scott Hellberg and Max Razmakhin.

Al-Turk fell during second singles to Daniel Thangarajah 6-0, 6-4, while Brad Cerveny (North Royalton, Ohio / North Royalton) dropped the third spot 6-0, 6-2 to Hellberg. Razmakhin defeated Ryan Earl (Madison, Ohio / Madison) 6-4, 6-0 in fourth singles and Taimour Khan beat Matt Dittmer (Danville, Ind. / Danville Community) 6-1, 6-1 during fifth singles. Dylan Booth (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville Central) rounded out the singles play for the Berg, losing 6-2, 6-2 against Ryan Leslie from Ohio Wesleyan.

In doubles, Cerveny and Earl lost 8-3 to Luttinger and Thangarajah in the second spot, while Booth and Dittmer were defeated by Leslie and Zach Weaver 8-5.
