4x100-Meter Relay Team Provisionally Qualified For Nationals

The Heidelberg College men’s track and field team provisionally qualified its 4x100-meter relay team for the 2007 NCAA Division III National Championships on Friday, May 18 at the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Ind.
           

Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria), Paris Hilliard (Lorain, Ohio / Admiral King), Justin Shields (Lorain, Ohio / Amherst L. Steele) and Steven Malone (Shaker Heights, Ohio / Shaker Heights) raced to a provisional qualifying time and school record mark of 41.53, which also stood third in the final standings.
          

In the long jump, Greg Tyson, Jr. (Lima, Ohio / Lima Senior) leaped to the championship with a jump of 23’9.50” and finished fourth in the 200-meter dash (21.99). Adding depth in the long jump was Higginbotham with a fourth place finish (22’8.50”).
           

On the women’s side freshman Jamie Depinet (New Riegel, Ohio / New Riegel) finished second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 57.66.
