Tyson, Jr. Earns Third-Straight Outdoor Long Jump All-American Honor
Junior Greg Tyson, Jr. (Lima, Ohio / Lima Senior) of the Heidelberg College men’s track and field team leaped to a runner-up finish in the long jump at the 2007 NCAA Division III Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Oshkosh, Wisc. today, May 24
Tyson, Jr. recorded a leap of 23’10.25” which just missed Loras College’s Geoff Kaiser’s championship leap by a half of an inch. For his efforts Tyson, Jr. earned All-American honors. It was the third-straight season that Tyson, Jr. has been tabbed a long jump All-American during the outdoor season
Tyson, Jr. also took to the track in the 200-meter dash, racing to a time of 21.93 in the preliminaries, but did not qualify for the finals. He also joined with Justin Shields (Lorain, Ohio / Amherst L. Steele), Cory Beebe (Medina, Ohio / Cloverleaf) and Julius Salgado (Fremont, Ohio / Fremont Ross) to race to a preliminary time of 3:16.93 in 4x400-meter relay, which earned them a spot in the finals on Saturday. The 4x400-meter relay team will look to earn All-American honors beginning at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
