Nationals Opens with 4x400 Relay
Under the guidance of first-year head coach Keith Roberts Jr., the Heidelberg University men’s track and field team’s 4x400-meter relay team started things off at the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships taking fifth in its trial heat. Its time did not qualify for Saturday's final. Don Drumm Stadium, on the campus of Marietta College, is the host site of the championships in Marietta, Ohio. Today marked the opening day of the three day event.
Joining forces to run a time of 3:16.53 was sophomore Seth Robertson (Burton, Ohio / Newbury), junior Mark Childs (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany) and sophomores Terrence Horton (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington) and Wes Hendricks (Beavercreek, Ohio / Beavercreek).
The group represented the third ’Berg relay to qualify for nationals, which increases the program’s individual national qualifying total to 28.
Hendricks returns to the track tomorrow in the 400-meter trials beginning at 3:40 p.m.
