Beebe Picks Up Second OAC Track Athlete of the Week Honor
Junior Cory Beebe (Medina, Ohio / Cloverleaf) of the Heidelberg College men’s track and field team has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for the week of February 4, 2008. It is the second athlete of the week honor for Beebe this season. Beebe joins Judy Bataillie (Felicity, Ohio / Felicity-Franklin) of the women’s team as track athletes of the week award recipients for the first week of February.
Over the weekend, Beebe helped guide Heidelberg to a second place finish at the OAC Relays hosted by Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
Beebe teamed with Paris Hilliard (Lorain, Ohio / Admiral King), Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria) and Wes Hendricks (Hillsboro, Ohio / Hillsboro) to win the 4x200-meter relay in a time of 1:31.72. He also ran with Hendricks, Mark Childs (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany) and Justin Zuchowski (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) and won the 4x400-meter relay in 3:23.14. Beebe’s third championship on the weekend came as a member of the 1600-meter sprint medley team. He was joined by Hilliard, Zuchowski and Zac Sendelbach (New London, Ohio / New London) and finished the race in 3:37.90.
The junior hurdler/sprinter rounded out the weekend with a fourth-pace finish in the 55-meter hurdle relay. He ran a 7.76 leg of the race.
