Childs Earns OAC Weekly Honor
Mid-distance runner Mark Childs (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany) beat out his competition for two first place finishes and a second place finish a the Mount Union Invite last weekend, good enough to help the Heidelberg College men’s track team grab third place and for Childs to earn the Ohio Athletic Conference Runner of the Week title. Childs nabbed the top spot in the 300-meter dash (36.18) and second in the 400-meter dash (50.70), while joining three other teammates for a first place finish in the 4x400-meter relay (3:30.29).
Childs is the second runner to receive a nod from the OAC this season. Cory Beebe (Medina, Ohio / Cloverleaf) has snagged the award twice this season, first for the week of January 14th and most recently just last week for his performance at the OAC Relays.
Heidelberg races next at the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday, February 16, in Westerville.
