Tyson Jr. Headed Back to Indoor Nationals
Two-time defending Division III indoor long jump national champion Greg Tyson Jr. (Lima, Ohio / Lima Senior) of the Heidelberg College men’s track and field team is set to defend his title for a third year following his performance at the Findlay Open today on the campus of the University of Findlay.
Tyson leaped 23’10”, which automatically qualified him for the 2008 NCAA Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University March 14-15 in Ada, Ohio. His jump currently ties with Moravian College’s Beresford Brown for the longest jump in the nation heading into the weekend.
Tyson, a senior, will be making his third-straight trip to nationals in March and has three indoor All-American honors on his resume heading into his final trip. He became Heidelberg’s first individual national champion in any sport as a sophomore, winning the long jump.
Overall, in both indoor and outdoor track, Tyson is a seven-time All-American, won 11 OAC Championships, and earned 17 All-OAC honors, to go along with his two national championships.
