Higginbotham Picks Up Heidelberg's Third-Straight OAC Weekly Honor
For the third-straight week and the fourth time on the 2008 indoor season a member of the Heidelberg College men’s track and field team has claimed an Ohio Athletic Conference weekly honor. For the week of Feb. 18, 2008 sophomore Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria) was named the OAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Over the weekend, Higginbotham helped guide the men’s team to a second place finish at the 2008 All-Ohio Championships hosted by Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio.
In the field, Higginbotham led the way for the Berg with a first place finish in the long jump. Higginbotham leaped to the title with a jump of 23’0.75”. His jump also provisionally-qualified him for the 2008 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships March 14-15 in Ada, Ohio.
In the triple jump, he placed third with a leap of 43’0.25”, while also taking to the track in the 55-meter dash and finished fourth in a time of 6.60.
