Heidelberg Participates in Butler Twilight Meet
The Heidelberg College track and field team participated in the Butler Twilight meet on Saturday. The event was not scored, but the Berg still walked away with a good showing on the track.
The men’s 4x100-meter relay team grabbed first place at the event. The quartet consisted of Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria), Paris Hilliard (Lorain, Ohio / Admiral King), Tyson Brown (Van Wert, Ohio / Van Wert), and Wes Hendricks (Beavercreek, Ohio / Beavercreek) and finished in a time of 42.71. Higginbotham also participated in the long jump for Heidelberg. He came in third after a final jump of 22’ 11¾”. He joined Hilliard on the track as well for the 100-meter dash. Hilliard placed eighth in a time of 10.96, while Higginbotham earned ninth with a time of 10.97.
Mark Childs (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany) and Terrence Horton (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington) finished in fourth and fifth places respectively for the Berg in the 400-meter dash. Childs ran the event in 50.93, while Horton posted a time of 51.03. Eric Hoogeveen (Westerville, Ohio/ Liberty Benton) rounded out the day for men with a seventh place finish in the 800-meter run. He finished the raced in 1:59.93.
For the women, Jessica Smith (Lorain, Ohio / Admiral King) propelled herself to a 12th place finish in the triple jump with a length of 33’1”. Alexis Goodman (Tiffin, Ohio/ Columbian) placed 13th in the 100-meter dash, having run the race in 13.15.
Heidelberg returns to the track on Friday, May 9, when the team competes in the Bill Hayes Invite being held at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
