Track & Field Competes in Billy Hayes Invite

The Heidelberg College track and field team traveled to Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. to compete in the Billy Hayes Invite. The team placed in six events while competing against mostly NCAA Division I competitors.

For the men, Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria) placed 15th in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.09 and ninth in the long jump with a length of 21’ 7½”, while Paris Hilliard (Lorain, Ohio / Admiral King) nabbed 14th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.26. Terrence Horton (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington), Seth Robertson (Burton, Ohio / Newbury), Mark Childs (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany), and Wes Hendricks (Beavercreek, Ohio / Beavercreek) teamed up for a fifth place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet completed the race in a time of 3:18.60.

The women’s 4x400 team, consisting of Jocelyn Hughes (Oberlin, Ohio / Oberlin), Angela Zellner (Twinsburg, Ohio / Twinsburg), Colleen Nitchman (Wakeman, Ohio / Western Reserve), and Catie Evers (Burkettsville, Ohio / St. Henry), placed eighth in a time of 3:58.61 and the 4x100 quartet of Evers, Zellner, Nitchman, and Alexis Goodman (Tiffin, Ohio / Columbian) grabbed 11th place in a time of 49.49. Jessica Smith (Lorain, Ohio / Admiral King) placed 13th in the triple jump with a length of 30’ 3”.
