Track Completes Season at Gregory Invitational
The Heidelberg College track and field team finished off its season at the Gregory Invitational held at North Central College in Naperville, Ill. over the weekend. Three individual competitors and four relay teams placed in the top-10 for the Berg.
For the men, Paris Hilliard (Lorain, Ohio / Admiral King) took sixth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.10 and Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria) placed third in long jump with a distance of 22’ 9 ¼ ”. The two teamed up with Tyson Brown (Van Wert, Ohio / Van Wert) and Wes Hendricks (Beavercreek, Ohio / Beavercreek) in the 4x100-meter relay for a fifth place finish in a time of 41.57. Hendricks then ran in the 4x400-meter relay with Seth Robertson (Burton, Ohio / Newbury), Terrence Horton (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington), and Mark Childs (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany). The quartet came in third place in a time of 3:15.14.
Caitie Evers (Burkettsville, Ohio / St. Henry) led the women in the 400-meter dash. She came in sixth with a time of 58.22. She then joined Angela Zellner (Twinsburg, Ohio / Twinsburg), Colleen Nitchman (Wakemand, Ohio / Western Reserve), and Alexis Goodman (Tiffin, Ohio / Columbian) on the track for the 4x100 relay. The team set a new school record and placed sixth in a time of 48.51. The previous record of 48.90 was set earlier in the season by Nitchman, Evers, Judy Bataille (Felicity, Ohio / Felicity-Franklin), and Jamie Depinet (New Riegel, Ohio / New Riegel). Zellner, Nitchman, Evers, and Jocelyn Hughes (Oberlin, Ohio / Oberlin) finished the day off for the Berg with a eighth place finish in the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:59.72.
