'Berg Competes in First Indoor Meet

Findlay, Ohio – December 5, 2009 – The Heidelberg University men’s and women’s track & field teams competed in their first Indoor meet of the season at The Oiler Invite hosted by Findlay University at Malcolm Athletic Center.

Leading the way for the women was sprinter Judy Bataille (Felicity, Ohio / Felicity-Franklin) who placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.75. Her time provisonally qualified her for the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships March 12-13 at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. It was the third-straight year that Bataille opened the year with a provisonal time in the event.
 
Also, finishing within the top ten of was Jamie Depinet (New Riegel, Ohio / New Riegel) crossing the finish line in sixth place in the 400-meter dash (1:01.41). The 4x400-meter relay team finished their race with a time of 4:09.80, receiving sixth place.

For the men Brett Meadows (Marysville, Ohio / Bellefontaine) ran a 7.07 to take fifth place in the 60-meter dash and a 23.30 in the 200-meter dash for eighth place. In the 400-meter dash the Berg had three runners take top ten finishes, Joe Yoder (West Liberty, Ohio / West Liberty Salem) took fourth (51.34), Josh Bowmar (Marengo, Ohio / Highland) in sixth (51.82) and Terrence Horton (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington) in eighth (52.10). Mark Childs (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany) finished the one-mile run in a time of 4:29.11 registering a fifth place finish. Yoder was also able to race in for a fourth place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.61).

The Berg had two teams finish in the top ten of the 4x400 meter relay. The first team raced in at a time of 3:26.80 for third place as the second team of runners followed behind in sixth place (3:34.37).

Both teams will compete in their next race Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 in the Mike Hout Invite at Capital University starting at 12:00 p.m.
