Heidelberg Runs at Tiffin Twilight

Tiffin, Ohio – May 13, 2010 – A handful of members of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Heidelberg University men’s track and field team took part in the Tiffin Twilight Meet on Wednesday, May 12 hosted by Tiffin University.

Wednesday’s meet, along with two trips to North Central College over the next two weekends are the final outings for the Berg prior to the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships May 27-29 at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.

Leading the way for the Berg on Wednesday was Terrence Horton (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington), Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria) and Justin Burnett (Springfield, Ohio / Northwestern). The trio all took home top honors.

Horton cross the finish line in first in the 400-meter dash in a time of 49.23, he was backed by teammate Josh Bowmar (Marengo, Ohio / Highland) in 50.25.

In the 200-meter dash, Burnett was victorious in 23.06, while Joe Yoder (West Liberty, Ohio / West Liberty Salem) followed in second (23.21).

In the field events, Higginbotham led the way with a first in the long jump. He took home the top spot with a leap of 22’5.25”. Also taking home a top-five finish in the field events was Nate Davis (Dayton, Ohio / Stivers), Joshua Lynch (Dayton, Ohio / Meadowdale) and Bowmar. Davis was second in the high jump (6’6”), while Lynch and Bowmar were third in the triple jump (43’8.75”) and the javelin (172’6”), respectively.

Rounding out the top-five placers was Gibril Kamara (Westerville, Ohio / Central) and Higginbotham in the 100-meter dash. Kamara crossed the finish line in 11.37 to stand fourth and Higginbotham was in fifth at 11.38.
