Higginbothan and Butcher Break School Records

Naperville, Ill. - May 21, 2010 –Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria) continues to set the bar high during his senior campaign. Higginbotham ran a school record of 10.83 in the 100-meter dash at the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central College. He ran it in preliminaries and returned to run 10.84 in the finals, both topped the school record of 10.90 by Chad Hyacinth set in 1997.

Higginbotham was also part of the 4x100 meter relay team who set a new school record of 41.45 which improved its provisional qualifying time. The other three members were Paris Hilliard (Lorain, Ohio / Admiral King), Justin Burnett (Springfield, Ohio / Northwestern), and Gibril Kamara (Westerville, Ohio / Central). The previous school record was 41.53 set in 2007.

Also setting new heights for the future of Heidelberg was Devin Butcher (Bowling Green, Ohio / Bowling Green). Butcher set a new school record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:01.01, topping the old mark of 15:03.17 set by Dan Simpson in 2007.

 

Nate Davis (Dayton, Ohio / Stivers School for the Arts) continues to make impact in his first year on the field. Davis earned a first place finish in high jump with a leap of 2.01 meters.

Also finishing in the top-five was Josh Bowmar (Marengo, Ohio / Highland) who finished fourth in the javelin throw with a toss of 56.71 meters.
