Delaware, Ohio – May 28, 2011 – It did not take long for Heidelberg University’s Josh Bowmar (Marengo, Ohio / Highland) to ink his name among an elite group at the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
Bowmar, a junior, was the first ’Berg national qualifier in the javelin and earned All-American honors for his efforts. His first throw of 204’5” landed him in the finals and stood sixth overall. He was making his first trip to the national stage and he became the 15th individual All-American on the outdoor track in the history of the program.
Not only did he earn All-American honors, but he also topped his own school record in the process. A few weeks earlier he landed on the national list with a then school record throw of 200’10”.
During the outdoor season Bowmar has earned all-league honors in the javelin, 400-meter dash and helped claim the 4x400-meter relay championship and subsequent all-conference honors. He was also named to the Academic All-OAC Team.
A day earlier, Nate Davis (Dayton, Ohio / Stivers) earned All-American honors in the high jump after tying for sixth place. Later this evening, Bowmar will look to secure his second All-American accolade of the season as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team.
