Comets Fall in Match Against Student Princes
Under the spotlight in a packed Seiberling Gymnasium, no. 4 Heidelberg College, led by head coach Jason Miller, wrestled against no. 15 Olivet College. The Student Princes came out a bit battle-weary, but victorious nonetheless; winning the match 27-9. The win brings Heidelberg’s dual record up to 3-0 overall, while Olivet falls to 2-3 on the year.
Jerrad Hoxie (Forest Hills, Mich. / Forest Hills) started things off for the Berg by receiving a forfeit at the 125-pound weight class. No. 7 Nick Sanchez (Lima, Ohio / Bath) faced off against Rob Yahrmakt at 141 for the Student Princes. In a well fought match-up, Yahrmarkt emerged victorious by way of a score of 3-2. His one-point victory came from riding time accumulated when Sanchez could not escape from the down-position during the third period. Olivet carried their winning momentum into the 149 pound match-up, where Vince Lahar defeated Heidelberg’s Zach Mizer (Canton, Ohio / Perry) in a 10-4 decision.
The most anticipated match of the night came at the 157 bout; Heidelberg’s Joe Pflug (Maple Heights, Ohio / Maple Heights), who is ranked second in the nation, battled against Olivet’s Jason Brew, who is ranked seventh.
