#16 Olivet Takes Down #18 Heidelberg

In a battle of nationally ranked teams, number 16 ranked Olivet College topped no. 18 Heidelberg College 20-19 courtesy of a takedown in overtime in the 149 pound weight class. Tonight’s dual was the season opener for both teams.
 
Heidelberg and Olivet drew to start the match at 157 pounds, which saw Olivet’s no. 2 Jason Brew defeat no. 10 Zach Mizer (Canton, Ohio / Perry), 8-2. Matt Curley (Lakewood, Ohio / Lakewood) responded for the Berg at 165 pounds with his third fall of the year, pinning Blake Birmingham in 2:57.
 
Heidelberg and Olivet split the rest of the upper weight classes with the Berg earning victories at 184 pounds and 285. Ed Bizorik (Bellevue, Ohio / Bellevue) won 4-1 at 184, while no 6. Robbie Brubeck (Findlay, Ohio / Findlay) posted a 3-0 decision at 285.
 
The Berg’s Jerrad Hoxie (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Northern), ranked 10th in the nation at 125 pounds, earned a 14-5 major decision over Adam Wilson and Tony Lawler (West Jefferson, Ohio / West Jefferson) was also victorious, 6-5, at 133 pounds.
 
Olivet won at 141 pounds and left the Berg with a slim 19-17 advantage heading into the final bout of the night. Olivet’s Nick Leon recorded a takedown in overtime to escape with a 6-4 win at 149 pounds to give the host school the win.
