Austintown, Ohio – March 22, 2011 – For the second week in a row, a Heidelberg University softball pitcher has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Junior Dana Thoms (Amherst, Ohio / Firelands) has been selected for this honor for the week of March 22, 2011. A week ago, junior Lexie Pinkelman (Metamora, Ohio / Evergreen) was selected. For Thoms, it marks her first pitcher of the week honor of her career.
In a week’s play, Thoms went 2-1 while posting a 1.47 earned run average. Thoms threw three complete games while giving up four runs off 16 hits. She fanned six and walked three. Her wins came against Salem State University (7-2) and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (9-1).
Heidelberg went 4-2 in its last week of its spring trip. It faces Bluffton University today in its home opener.
