‘Berg Volleyball to Face Geneva (Pa.) College in 2011 NCAA Volleyball Tournament First Round

TIFFIN, Ohio—The No. 9 (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Heidelberg University volleyball team will compete in the Grand Rapids, Mich. regional to open the 2011 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament, announced today by the NCAA. The Berg (31-6, 9-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) will face Geneva (Pa.) College (25-8, 17-1 Presidents’ Athletic Conference) on Thursday, Nov. 10 at Van Noord Arena at 12:30 p.m.

The winner of that match will face the winner between the Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology and No. 5 Wittenberg University on Friday, Nov. 11 at 4:30 p.m.

OAC rival Otterbein University, Hope (Mich.) College, St. Norbert (Wisc.) College and host institution and defending NCAA champion No. 1 Calvin (Mich.) College are also competing in the Grand Rapids regional.

Single-day tickets are $6 for general admission, $4 for students, senior citizens and members of the military, and $3 for children ages 3-11.  All-session tickets (all three days) are $12 for general admission, $10 for students, senior citizens and members of the military, and $7 for children ages 3-11.

The Berg, appearing in its fifth straight NCAA tournament, is 2-2 this season against the regional field, having defeated Hope (Sept. 17) and Otterbein (Sept. 24) and lost to Wittenberg (Sept. 10) and Calvin (Sept. 17).

Heidelberg is 3-4 all-time in the NCAA tournament and will be looking to advance past the second round for the first time in school history.

The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals of the 2011 NCAA Volleyball Tournament will be hosted by Washington (Mo.) University in St. Louis on Nov. 18-20.
